Supertech good or bad?

I have a lifetime warranty starter that I can change in 15 minutes. The starter is the last thing I'm going to worry about.

Starter motors and seliniods are much more common repair parts than bearings. Most start up noise is just valve clatter. No sense adding wear to the the start system to avoid something that doesn't hurt.

Bret.....I've been using Purolator Premium Plus exclusivly. The price is right when on sale,($2.50 or less), the availability (Sears, PepBoys,Adv.Auto)is plentiful, and I think that I have had one PPP over the past couple of years that gave me some clatter upon start up. The PuroPremPlus seem to be held in high reguard here at BITOG.

Numbers are funny. 150% better sounds like a lot. However, we are talking about $1. Motorcrafts are definately worth the additinal $1. Betweeen the silicon ADBV and the more plentifull filter media. For $1 more they are a better bargain IMHO.

Generally Super Tech filters do not fail in service, however, that is not to say they are "good" filters. There is very little info on the quality of the filtering job they do. You need a used oil analysis with a particle count to see how the filter does, there are few reported here.

In testing the Purolator Pure One and Mobil 1 filters generally produced better than average results. One BITOG member had a particle count done with a Mobil 1 filter and at something like 8,000 miles the oil was amazingly clean with very low particle counts.
