Supertech Dexos 5W20

Is there any harm in running a Dexos approved 5W20 as opposed to the spec'd 0W20 in a GM 5.3 or 6.2 Ecotec V8? I've been using Supertech Dexos 5W20 in a friends '15 Tahoe with the 5.3, to keep costs down for him. Anyone using 0W30 or 5W30 in these engines without any problems?

I'd run a 5w30 since you are not in a cold region.

But yea supertech oil is fine as is their super tech oil filters.

No appreciable difference between 0w20 and 5w20. And no dealer can tell the difference.

Does it specify synthetic oil? They're both 20 weights. The winter rating is irrelevant unless you're operating in sub-zero temps.

I wonder if GM just consolidated the 5w-20 into 0w-20 just for simplicity's sake. That did allow them to discontinue the AC 5w-20 dexos1.
