Pretty much stock for now, will supertech CI4 rated oil work well in this paired with a fleetguard stratapore filter for 5k miles or more?

What is everyone's opinion on this oil?

Super Tech Premium 15W40 is made for extended oil changes (as per what Safety Kleen states). The only cpmplaint I ever heard of is that an individual bought a 20L bucket and at the bottom was somw white residue (maybe from refinery). Can't see why is shouldn't.

If you are going to run a Stratapore, might as well run Rotella, Delo, Delvac or any of the other big name Premium 15W40 HDEO's...JMO

Supertech oil in the USA is very different than what is available in Canada at Walmart. Here it is called Tech 2000 and is made from re-cycled oil by Safety-Kleen

I was going to ask 'Is Supertech different from our Wallmart Tech 2000?'
It's one of the few CI4 oils still readily available to us Canucks.

I have no idea who make the US Supertech, but all Tech 2000 oils (with the exception of the full synthetic) are from Safety Kleen Canada. I actually live a few miles from the Safety Kleen refinery and go there to drop off my used oil. Tech 2000 synthetic is made by Petro Canada and is a good oil from what I hear...

On some of my Powerstroke websites, I have read where some of the Powerstroke owners have used the Walmart 15w40 with no problems. I have continued to use Shell Rotella 15w40 in my 2002 F350 Powerstroke with no complaints. I guess as long as the oil is diesel rated shouldn't be a problem. I haven't priced the Walmart 15w40 but the Rotella 15w40 is about 9-10 dollars a gallon.

I did end up buying the shell for 8.88/gal and the supertech was only a little cheaper. Usually the name brand oils are way higher, but I looks like shell wants to sell some oil. I was a little concerned about the CJ-4 rating rather than the CI-4. But I guess people just like to make stuff up about the CJ being bad.

This cummins does not burn any oil in the exhaust but it sure leaks quite a bit out the valve covers, oil pan gasket, and road draft tube. I may need to look into getting some new gaskets. I just bought it and the oil filter was quite old looking but the oil looked real very clean, so either it leaks enough that the makup oil dillutes it, or the engine really burns clean.

I've been using the Shell Rotella T 15w40 Triple Protection without any issues. Seems like my Powerstroke likes it.

I really don't think that Tech 2000 being Re-cycled is an issue, but I would be interested to see a VOA to compare it with Safety Kleen's Supertech that's sold in the States.

The problem here is CI4 rated oil is hard to come by, Tech 2000 is readily available in liters, Gallons or 5 gallons at excellent prices. Personally I'm not Brand Loyal and when enquiring Shell themselves have been a little coy about using CJ rated oil in applications where CI has been specified.
