Superflow Rebate scam

My rejection still didn't explain why the UPC's I DID send in were rejected!

I saw a stat - not so many people do the rebate on any given item - even the BIG ones. I can't remember the percentage but it was less than 50%. Companies count on this.

I do them when I mentally think it's worth it - for example Office Depot/Max(?) had my Olympus camera deeply discounted and a $100 rebate. Took a LONG time for the $100, but well worth it.

Some stores print special rebate receipts. Seems like there are not many meaningful rebates lately.

Rebates also assist in tracking where the items are selling. Say Valvo distributes 10,000 cases of Maxlife to AAP. AAP then uses their distribution network to transport to the individual stores. Valvo has no idea where these are, until the rebates begin to show from a geographical area. The next time a purchase is made by AAP, (actually, any company, as this is a marketing game), Valvo can say,"Now y'all may not know that we got a great response from New York City last time we had that rebate program goin' on. Hows 'bout another 50 cases fer them cabbies up dere?"
I agree that the rebates have little influence on my purchases. I look at it as like finding the center you wanted in a piece of chocolate. It just makes the buy better.
P.S. I have gotten both of my Superflo rebates back. Got 2 cases when KMart had it for 1.00 a quart, minus the 4.20 rebate equals smooth miles for small change.

It's been calculated that only 1/4 of the rebates are sent in for any qualified purchase. Most people either lose the paperwork, forget to send it in, or just don't care.

As far as postage, some places such as Costco, let you do everything online for rebate. The receipt has codes that are specific enough to input for verification.

Most rebates are handled for whatever particular product by 3rd party fulfillment centers. These centers are paid upfront by the product companies a set amount for the total (not anticipated) amount of potential rebates, plus a processing fee. Whatever isn't paid out during a particular rebate's time limit, the fulfillment center keeps. It's obviously in these fulfillment centers' financial interest to be crappy about the terms and their interpretaion of compliance. The most amazing aspect of rebate programs is that any rebate checks are sent out at all.

XM was giving a $50 rebate on certain XM receivers purchased before Christmas. The cost of the receiver in the store before the rebate? $50....

It's going out today!!

I must admit that one time, (I can't remember the product...electronic I'm sure), I forgot to send in a rebate....THOSE B!@#$%^&S GOT ME!!

I have vowed never to be that person again!! When they give rebates, they totally count on lazy people to forget.

but my fiance works for an independent rebate company, she does rebates for an oil company and the other side of the office does rebates for zerox..Anyway, she was telling me a group of coworkers were laughing at people bothering sending rebates for $10. It made me mad because I didn't get my two $5 gas card rebates last year from Shell. She was telling me the gas card/mastercard rebates are a problem because they always receive more rebates than they have cards.
