Looks pretty ruffled in pic #4.I wonder how the stamped spring seats on the end cap for leaks? I think the ST's have a better seal than the Frams
Nice photos and filter. What oil and filter went back on?Ecore w/metal endcaps. Love these filters. Excellent quality for $3 filter. They are small. Came off my 1991 John Deere 260 GT 4.9 hours. I had to open up the engine again so short run on this filter.

This still has the "Leak Spring" or "Ruffles" on the leaf spring & I should've done a light test but overall can't beat it for the price right off the WM shelf. Thought about getting the Fram version w/silicon ADBV, for not much more, but I just don't need it for the low hours.Wish all st filters were this well put together. Thanks for the c&p.
Yeah, I've seen these were spec'd for some Toyota's. SuperTech $3.88 Fram $4.18 w/silicon ADBV. Tough choice but I just don't need the silicon ADBV either. The ADBV was still pliable & held oil inside the filter & is horizontally mounted on the Kawasaki engine but for <5 hours that is expected. Thanks for posting.
The ST4967 filter is the # for my Toyota Venza. I’ll have to look into these when my stash runs out.
And even though the ST4967 doesn’t have a silicone ADBV, my filter is mounted in the ^UP^ position anyway.
Have any pics of the Fram? All one needs and done. Looks like ruffles. I opened the Fram ph4967 I got from Amazon, made 2024, looks the same but silicone rubber. They went up in price suddenly, double. They made it the same size as Toyota N1, quite a bit smaller. Maybe this one is still the standard size. I like they are usually at Walmart for the same daily price. The one I cut has the leak spring. I bet this one does too.
I replaced this ST4967 with another ST4967. Hard to beat IMO.Nice photos and filter. What oil and filter went back on?
Thank You
i went to return the Fram and Amaz returned my money without returning so I cut it open. In the meantime I had ordered a second one for under $4. So I have that one new and a cut up one. No pictures taken yet, but not impressed. Small element compared to Toyota N1, light leak, and glitter specs on the adbv where it sits on the base. Narrow element has no centering method so when it dropped in the can only luck centers it on the base. This still has the "Leak Spring" or "Ruffles" on the leaf spring & I should've done a light test but overall can't beat it for the price right off the WM shelf. What oil are you going to use?I replaced this ST4967 with another ST4967. Hard to beat IMO.
Super Tech 15w-40.What oil are you going to use?
Liquid Cooled?Just finished changing oil on my JD this afternoon. I have that exact same filter on mine. It has approximately 150 hours on it. I will change it out next fall. Those filters hold up very well.

The fancy synthetic or the regular 15w40?Super Tech 15w-40.![]()
fancy synthetic.. Price is too cheap not to buy it but for my low hour use the cheap stuff would work well too I'd imagine. Think I might use Quaker State 20w-50 "All Mileage" "conventional" on WM shelf next time though. The fancy synthetic or the regular 15w40?
About bought an older X485 I think? at local dealer $2500 w/1400 hours but it was real clean overall. Those tractors are very nice. This one is the old odd ball that had the goofy "emergency handle" for the deck lift. Thought it would be a good restore project & it's been a fun learning experience.Yes...liquid X585.
Using Valvoline 5-40 euro
In your climate 20w50 would be okfancy synthetic.. Price is too cheap not to buy it but for my low hour use the cheap stuff would work well too I'd imagine. Think I might use Quaker State 20w-50 "All Mileage" "conventional" on WM shelf next time though.
