The BOGO at AA is decent. The Total Grip is a great filter for the short OCI crowd. ST is creeping up there. It was great @ $2.07 ..but when it broke $2.50 ..then you're getting into PP, AATG, and other territory.

I still have one or two AA Total Grips left over from the last BOGO sale. I'll agree that it is a great value on a quality filter for shorter OCI's.
Between the AAP Total Grip (Purolator Premium Plus clones) and the $2.69 NAPA ProSelect, there's no reason to buy anything else on the low end.
The NAPA/Wix's I have in the garage were almost all made in the USA, with the exception of 2 for my Malibu which were made in the UK. And which suspiciously look similar to some AC/Delco PF47's I bought years ago that were also UK-made....
if you're still interested in the Ecore design of the SuperTech, you can get the AutoZone brand (ValuCraft) for less than Walmart, at least it was for my application.
The ST3506 was $2.67 at Walmart, while the V3506 Valucraft at AutoZone was $2.49. Same design, made by Champion Labs, and about 20 cents less.

It wasn't an "innocent little comment", it was a false accusation that all Champion Labs filters are US made and a majority of WIX filters are not.
Even though there are still a significant number of Champion Labs filters on the shelf stamped "Made in Mexico."
There may be a significant number of Mexico filters remaining on the shelves, but Champion no longer manufactures filters in Mexico, they are all U.S. products now.
Instead of making wild allegations, why don't you prove something. Fair enough?
Ok, I've proved all I can, Wix does have a plant in China, but you nor I know if these filters are being shipped to the U.S.
You may have "if you want to call it that" won your argument, then be proud of yourself.

Every filter manufacturer has a value line. Most have international manufacturing and distribution. So far, it appears that it's still sensible to produce most of them here. Occasionally you will see some fuel filter made in some place like Israel or whatnot. I think that they're just a way of channeling money where it's needed without outright foreign aid.
Just purchased a 21040 Napa ProSelect ($2.6x at Napa) and it seems to be a well-built quality filter. In my opinion, it looked a lot better than the SuperTech I pulled off. Built up oil pressure nice and quick, and then again the next two times we started it. I'd much rather use the ProSelect than supporting Wal-Mart. Especially for the same price.

You guys should be happy down there, we can't get any oil filter up here for under $3. I don't even think anything here is under $4! The CDN dollar is worth 98 cents US too, so our currency is almost equal, but even still most oil related stuff sold up here is 30-40% higher in price than you guys pay.
On the Champion Lab website, there is a nice cross reference for filters I use including motorcycle filters, but I am having problems finding a retailer for Champ/Champion filters. Is there a retail supplier in the southeast US?
I currently use SuperTech on three applications. I cannot find SuperTech motorcycle filter crossover numbers at WalMart for my bikes.
I checked with one NAPA store to see if they stocked a NAPA motorcycle filter, which they did not stock, but said they could order the filter for a $3.00 shipping charge (50% of the filter cost), which I declined.
I will ask another NAPA store about ProSelect filters for my vehicles..

Well, I'm still looking for my answer, since my oil filters aren't marked as being "Made in China", and it is clear that you don't know the answer... even though it appears that you will throw out any lame allegation that fills the need at the time.
I guess a question is this... Do you enjoy acting like a troll, by throwing out inaccurate information, for the purpose of getting a reaction from others?
To make things worse, in another thread, you've already admitted to being biased since you have connections to Champion.
Here's another question... By tossing out baseless allegations, are you contributing to the discussion here... or taking away from it?

I think that it's because they produce those filters in Canada. Wix has a plant there, IIRC, but doesn't market what they make under the WIX label. That is, I think that the absence of our vast filter selection is jobs related ...just like I think having Crystal Springs individually bottled water trucked in from Ontario is a currency balancing/local employment/cash infusion thing.

Dana (who makes Wix, NAPA Gold, Carquest premium, Kralinator, etc) used to have a plant in Cambridge ON (just 30min from my house) but they recently closed down.
We can find Wix filters up here, but not in too many places. (I only know of one in my area) There are a ton of NAPAs and Carquests up here though, so they sell way more of those filters up here compared to the Wix labelled ones.

the SuperTech 3593 or the 7317 will fit your Honda cycles.
And they're black.
The Yamaha is a cartridge, so inexpensive filters are hard to find, but the Fram 6004 is not that expensive and it's well made, regardless of the comments or attitudes here.

Why don't you get a list of the micron ratings on all the Champ Ecore filters and post it here. That would be very useful and I "suspect" it would say a lot more relative to Wix than talking about point of origin.

Ah ..I see. I think Pete C. said that it was making the quick lube line for them. Maybe quick lubes didn't do as well as they thought ..or at least Wix's penetration into that market. "Over the border" economics plays some odd roles in where stuff is made sometimes
I guess the NG's and CQ blue are expensive ..but at least they're available. Baldwin appears to be available in limited distribution in Canada too.
