Its slowly changing. 5+ years ago, some here felt they had achieved some sort of intellectual superiority by falling in line with the government CAFE speced thin oils. The "Thinner is ALWAYS better" premise has been vigorously debunked here lately. Of course thinner IS better in the frozen north US and for most of our Canadian friends, but it does not extrapolate to the southern tier, where 60 is "cold".

BTW, just returned from Miami. Spent one day in Little Havana. The Ball and Chain was freakin' awesome!

10W40 is my "thin" oil

The renix 4.0L could run 500K.

I wouldn't to run 20w-50 in a 4.0L. Did that once in one with a bad rear main seal (7 quarts in 140 miles) it had horrendous top end noise until the engine came completely up to temperature after an hour of running.

I'm of the opinion we over think this stuff. 600,000 mi has occurred with both 5W20 and 20W50. I'm of no doubt that someone will do it on 0W20 as well given time.

That's a lot of oil pressure, I'd lighten it up. My brother's 91' XJ 4.0L has 213k and runs fine on 5w30 & 10w30, a little over 40 psi of oil pressure.

Exactly! Keep doing what you've already done. You could probably go a consistent 5k....
