Super mega "godzilla" El Niño this winter

All we know for sure is that the Earth's climate has historically varied widely. We also know Shell and Ford didn't exist thousands of years ago. An increase in CO2 could be a result and not a cause. How much CO2 does the oceans hold? We all know that cold water absorbs and holds more CO2 than warm water.

For the doom and gloom crowd. Another thing we know. Even if manmade CC was real warm periods have always been good for humans. Cold periods bad. Just think of all the new habitat that would open up if temps go up.

Why?

The man knows his stuff. One of top meteorologists in the world. Some years ago, he predicted our current weather and that it was going to be a repeat of the weather in the mid to late 50's. I'm here to tell you that he was right. I was there in the 50's. I know.

I used to love his forecasting. Maybe I'm wrong but I just see him as being part of the Faux News crowd. Some of the thigns he says are just so ridiculous I've had to lower his credibility.

Global warming is real. Plus, we have to watch what we pump into the air anyway for other reasons, not just warming.

Global cooling is real too.

When the earth's average temperature gets too high, it triggers an ice age. Hotter is bad, because it turns arable land into dusty desert, followed by a sudden ice age.

You are right......It is all good.

Oh wow. I hadn't heard that version of the talking points. Heat doesn't make a desert. Lack of precipitation makes a desert.

This promises to bring a warm if wet winter to us here in the Midwest.
We had a very mild winter in '11-'12 followed with a normal one in '12-'13 with the next two being truly awful.
In 2012, I actually had to cut the grass the third week of March, about a month ahead of what's typical around here.
Plenty of rain will bring drought relief to the West.
There will be property damage as well as losses, but that's the result of building houses in areas they really shouldn't be built, which happens from one coast to the other.

Most weather people over exaggerate for ratings.

What happend to the days when the weather was just weather? Why does everything have to be made out into this big drastic event?

I don't understand why everyone screams global warming when it is hot in the summer and mild in the winter and everyone screams global warming is a lie when it is mild in the summer and cold in the winter.

You should see the weather girls they have on the LA stations. Jackie Johnson and Evelyn Taft could tell me it was snowing and I would go buy a parka in August.

Ratings, ratings, ratings. The Weather Channel isn't going to get views by showing ... weather.

They need to have STORM STORIES SPRING BREAK JUNIOR YEAR SOUTH CAROLINA BEER ONLY EDITION in order to get views.

Social science research has shown that conspiracy theorists are more likely to reject scientists’ conclusions about climate change. It’s a logical connection – given that 97% of climate scientists and their research agree on human-caused global warming, the easiest way to deny that reality is to accuse all those scientists of being part of a vast conspiracy. Otherwise it’s difficult to justify rejecting the conclusions of 97% of experts.

The bottom line is that the Earth continues to warm dangerously rapidly, and short-term wiggles in global surface temperatures are no reason for complacency. When those who believe otherwise are forced to resort to baseless accusations of fraud and conspiracy theories, it’s time to stop listening to them.
