I recently switched my 1960's Deere payloader over to Sunoco ATF in its Allison trans and loader hydraulic systems (yes it meets the specs AND it gives me much better cold weather performance) and now I'm looking closely at Sunoco Super C 15w-40 as a single oil for my 3 tractors, two Cummins pick-ups, and previously mentioned pay loader. The specs looks good to my eye...

Product Code 3123

The big driver here is price. I can order a 55 gallon drum for around $530. That puts my cost per gallon at less than anything else I can find locally even the cheapo Tractor supply stuff.

Interested in what you is guys have to say.

Looks very similar to the Sinopec 15W-40 if memory serves me correctly.....not exactly the same - but darn close.

Was the consensus positive on the Sinopec oils? I have no experience with them and haven't seen them for sale in my area.

I've run 0w-40, 5w-40, and 15w-40 and recently 10w-30 for a while now in a variety of applications in both syn and conventional concoctions. The only oil I've truly noticed a cold weather difference on was 10w-30, but I don't like how thin it is on the dipstick at operating temp. I have that in my 3020 right now and I get instant oil pressure but it looks like water once it's hot on the dipstick.

I am torn on the oil weight thing. I order oils from petroleum services company online and they don't list any of the other Sunoco HDEOs tho they have the euro-spec 5w-40 but it doesn't have any of the major US diesel specs listed on the spec list... I should probably call and see if they can source one of the syn 5w-40s Sunoco makes and compare the price to T6 which is my standard syn go-to on the Wal-mart shelf.

Sunoco has this CK-4 rated 5w40, I'd bet if bought in bulk it may be slightly cheaper than T6. Hard to beat T6 for $19.99 if you only need a 6-8 gallons a year though IMO.

I was looking at that too... I just need to find a distributor.

You're right. My annual consumption isn't really high enough to justify anything but T6.

$962 shipped, $17.50/gal... not a deal I'm interested in. I appreciate you showing that though.

I'm very interested in that. Gardiner is an easy drive. Thanks!
