There are differing shear stabilities depending on the service category within any multi-grade. AN ACEA A3/B3/4 5w30 will have a significantly higher HTHS than an ILSAC GF-5 PCMO.

OP, if you're worried about high-temp shearing, then follow ARCOgraphite's advice and choose a shouted oil (higher HTHS) instead of a lower-index multi-grade.
