Sumitomo Encounter AT All Weather

Well Discount tire has a good price on these and I bit the bullet this morning, lt265 70r17 E rated with Certs etc out the door for $858.××. I hear they are updating to an AT2 from what I have read.
I wanted to thank Snagglefoot for the great information on these!

The stickers should be removed before balancing.

hi all. new subscriber here. this interested me bc i need new rears for my Sierra 3500HD pickup. i wanted Toyo hiway tread, around $650 installed. but the Goodyear Wranglers i bought in 2019 are dry rotted (cracked) on sidewalls bc of the hi heat in South Carolina. i only drive 5k miles per year so am i wasting money on Toyo or Michelin? or would cheaper tires just have a “cheaper” compound that would decay even faster? thoughts? thank you!

I just had my Sumitomo encounter AT tires installed yesterday, I'm running them on my Ram 2500 with the 5.9, so far I like them a lot.
In the past I've run many brands of tires on this truck and the best to date were the at3w's. I expect these to do equally well and they are just about half the cost.

there is only one tire dealer near me that sells Sumitomos. a set of two for my rear tires will only be $100 less than Michelin Agilis. for that diff i might go for the Michelins. i had Michelins on my 3500 cargo van in an earlier life. ; )

Reporting in after driving these all weather tires last winter and this summer. The fronts have less than 1/32 “ of wear. The back tires have almost 2/32 ( 1/16 “) of wear. That represents about 7,000 m of driving.

Great tires! I only have around 2500 miles on mine so far and next to zero wear so far, yours are doing great. My opinion is compared to the Falken at3w I had previously is they are quieter and a bit firmer in corners than the Falkens were. Great traction as well.

Getting ready for winter. Decided to go for All Weather tires to avoid changes. This is for my 2008 3/4 ton “ CIA” Suburban. They are LT 265 70 R 17 with the Mountain Snowflake rating and load range E. They have a 16/32 thread depth with all the sipes going to that depth.

Fast forward almost two years. The tire gage now says 12/32 instead of the original 16/32. This was in about 20,000 miles. This included almost two summers of wear. So far so good. They performed satisfactorily on snow and ice.

You've got some irregular wear going on. You may want to check your alignment - and do a rotation!!
