Need some new tires, we need All season (we have light snow here), long tread life, reasonable price, reasonable wet road performance and Quite. I am thinking Yokohama Avid TRZ's ($102) only because I liked them once before on out VW Golf, but I'm open to suggestions.
Thanx

Guy at work has Cooper CS4's on his Volvo and he seems to like 'em pretty well and they seem to be wearing well.

We're pretty happy w/the Yokohama AVID ENVigor's (Discount Tire) we put our our AWD Vibe last year. But honestly, anything would have been better than the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA's; in regards to road noise, it's like night & day.

The suggested Cooper CS4, Yoko AVID ENVigor and Pirelli P4 four-seasons ... are better than Yokohama Avid TRZ.

Another vote for Primacy MXV4's. I have them on my Elantra and love them.

I had CS4's on my old Elantra- they were nice tires, but took a lot of weight to balance and got noisy quickly.

We have a Vibe, basically the same as a Matrix. We've had the Kuhmo Escata Platinum LX tires for almost three years. They have good all around traction, have worn very well (we'll get more than the rated 60k miles), are not loud (and haven't become a lot louder as they've worn, as some tires do), and are not very expensive.

I don't see Coopers listed in 205-55-16 at Discount Tire or Tire Rack, how much should I expect to pay?

Goodyear Fuelsavers, lighter tire, fairly quiet, decent UTOG. Have them on my Matrix and they are better than the GY Assurance I had before or the original Contenintals. I am impressed.

Tire technology is improving every year, you want newer designs. The tires were best 5-6 years ago may not be as good as newest tires in the same category.

Good point.
Anyone have experience with Hankook Optimo H727's?

Yes, I have Hankook Optimo H727 on Mercury Tracer, it's a good quiet and smooth riding tire. The price was reasonable 5-6 months ago, but it went up more than others the last few months and many sizes are out of stock at Discount Tire.

I don't know if you have 16" or 17" wheels. Also, the car has too wide of an alignment spec range.
I would recommend Dunlop SP Sport Signature which currently have a $40 rebate as well. They are $98/tire prior to shipping on Tire Rack. A lot of times local tire stores will price match. I've also put these on our '02 Accord & an '08 Civic. I've put these on an '05 Matrix with 205/55/16 two times in a row now. The Matrix previously had Continental ContiProContact. I much prefer the Dunlop SP Sport Signature & am very happy with them on all 3 vehicles.

Oct/Nov 2010 we put on Hankook Optimo H727 on our daughters '06 Mazda3 using 205-55-16 and they are great. No issues in the Buffalo/Niagra Falls winter. They're rated high from many sources. Nothing life altering, just nice tires that don't call alot of attention to themselves.

These tires meet the criteria in your original post...Quiet, good wet weather performance including snow/ice and hydroplaining. Longevity remains to be seen yet but, they're rated for ~100,000 miles/60000 Km. Customer reviews on the internet are almost too good to be true.

Wow inflation has the mile down to only .6KM!

On a more serious note, I think you have your units reversed 100000km or 60k miles.

And have you had the michelins long enough to do a true apples to apples comparison? All tires get noisier as time goes on IME... But it's as much a matter of alignment and wear patterns as it is anything else...

Cooper CS4.

They have a rebate on right now too a $75 visa card or something. I am about to buy my second set of these for the Corolla. The first set on (OEM wheels) took the smallest balancing weights they had. Good grip in the wet and quiet as well.

I had a Corolla (similar platform) and put Yokohama Avid TRZs on it, and regretted it about 6 months later. They seemed to get loud and hard, and took away any compliance that suspension seemed to have. They were wearing smooth, but just didn't seem to age well.

I regret it every time I don't buy Michelins, and certainly did so that time. I've never owned a tire that got noisy so quickly. I would say that the X Radials on our old minivan got noisier with age, but it was a very slow and gradual process, and the difference between new and aged wasn't nearly so great. I think all tires perform fairly good when new, but only the better ones maintain that level of performance as they age.
