Subaru Crosstrek?

My parents test drove one a few years ago when they still offered a manual transmission. My dad said it felt sluggish but well built. They went with an imprreza hatch back.

the 2.5 is much peppier than the 2.0
manual transmission only available with 2.0= extra slow feeling.

Not a huge fan of the CVT but not terrible.

a 2023 premium is the most loaded you can get with a MT.

If you want CVT , I'd go new.

I would avoid 2.0 they don't seem to have enough power for my taste. Perhaps around a city? On the highway with a couple of people and some gear they don't have enough beans.

Mom has a 15 Crosstrek with the 2.0 .while no race car its fine around town and ive done highway too and it keeps right up with all the F1 cars and trucks no problem.I like it for what it is and it was the easiest car for her to get in and out of due to its height.Drive one and see

My son has a 21 Crosstrek 2.Slow with a CVT. It’s a fuel diluter too, gaining on the dipstick. But it’s been a really good car. Good economical and reliable transportation.

The manual is slower than the cvt which can keep the engine at peak power band. I'm surprised the non-turbo dilutes that much but not too surprised.

A pretty fair number of them are at the wholesale dealer auctions. These vehicles don't have the same popularity than they did in the past.

If you're looking for one, plenty of folks here have bought a vehicle through my car buying service. All the vehicles are purchased at the wholesale cost plus $700. That's it.

Also here's a study I co-developed which highlights the better model years for an Impreza.

Since the Crosstrek is an Impreza in drag and the VIN doesn't allow for a model distinction, you should assume that they are one and the same. We have inspected nearly 13,000 vehicles that have the Impreza/Crosstrek chassis at this point.

Feel free to PM me with what you're choosing to persue. All the best.

Great car that was hit with the ugly stick on the interior and exterior from their older models. Hate the interior and infotainment.

Service the CVT.

How tall is your wife? We looked at the previous generation which was to 2022 and the sight lines for anyone short were awful. All the Subi's seems that way actually. Just pointing it out.

Do they have space for a full size spare in the new one? Thats also on my do not buy list. No full size spare, no buy. Laugh if you like. Its served me well.

My DIL had a '19 Subaru Crosstrek (purchased new) until it was replaced with a '23 Mazda CX-5 last year. In 5 years and ~95K miles of ownership, the driver's side CV axle had to be replaced twice for clicking noises when making tight turns. It appears that excessive wear results from the CV joint's extreme articulation angle which is exacerbated by the Crosstrek's short symmetrical length axles.

We also had to replace a rear wheel bearing that failed around 75K miles. If you search online for Subaru problems, both issues are common for various Subaru platforms. It was an OK daily driver, but was gutless with the CVT. She liked the Crosstrek, but absolutely LOVES the CX-5, by comparison.

5’4. IDK on the spare. The Toyota and Chevy didn’t come with one either. Had to order separately.

I've got a '21 Limited (2.5L) as a daily driver and I -really- like it! My sister also has a '24 Premium and loves it as well.

I'm 6'5" and don't have any issues with it.

I wanted a NA engine. I'm not a fan of those small t/c'd motors manufactures are using these days.

Picked up a 25' MY. The 2.5L is adequate and the CVT seems decent so far. I like that they use a decent size fuel tank in these. That was our biggest complaint for the CX-30 we had.

Sister in law recently bought a ‘25 CrossTrek. I was chauffeur for my wife and her in her new car for a couple hour road trip. Road noise and power are ok but not great. It did feel well built, and has decent interior room.
