Hey guys, I wanted to ask for some recommendations. I am working with a local company that sells Subaru performance parts and wanted to help them expand their Amsoil sales. I copied down all model data from the Amsoil application guide and wanted to create 3-4 choices for oils depending on use etc.
Some forenotes:
Based on TSB, (http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/graphics/subaru_oil/02-103-07.pdf) all turbo subarus should go no longer than 3,750 miles because of this screen they put in the turbo oil feed line. I don't know if it affects newer models and will be using a dealer connection to try and find out.
My proposed packages:
If you fall into 1 category in a higher level, use that level!
Everyday Level: 5w30 XL
All stock turbo cars daily driven use factory intervals 4k/4month
All stock non-turbo cars daily driven use 10k/6month intervals
All Autox-ed cars use 4k/4month
*Not recommended for track use*
Sport level: 5w30 Signature Series
For users of above that may have a bit of a lead foot.
Turbo cars, modded cars with bolt-ons, stock turbo, autox use 4k/4month intervals
Non-turbo, modded cars with bolt-ons, stock internals, autox use 7.5k/12month intervals
Recommended for frequent autocrossers/occasional track with stock cars at 4k/4month intervals
Enthusiast Level: 5W-40 Euro then 10W-40 XL
Non-stock cars with upgraded turbo, upgraded internals, built motors use 5W-40 at 4k/4month intervals
Recommended for track use when oil pressure/temp gauges are in use at 4k/4month intervals
10W-40 will hold up better to track use and high temperatures, use oil pressure gauges to determine proper grade needed if 5W-40 is too thin
10W-40 is not recommended for daily driven cars in cold climates
Recommended filters will be Wix due to the shorter drain. Oversized Wix (1" longer) will be recommended for sport and above.
Did I overlap any? Do I have any holes? Are my recommendations kosher for Subaru enthusiasts?
Thanks for any input!
