New 2009 Subaru Forrester

Although Rotella T6 is popular with Subarus, another good choice is Pennzoil Platinum Euro L at Walmart, or any other Euro oil including Mobil 1 0w40.

Motul Gear 300 is the only thing you should use in a Subaru manual transmission. Some people don't like the RL 75w90NS for it. The rear diff can use any 75w90 GL5

I think they switched to blue coolant by then, so Zerex Asian Blue is a good choice for coolant :)

Bars Leaks HG-1 head gasket sealer is good stuff, and it works. People have had good results with Blue Devil Pour-N-Go as well.
I just bought some Motul gear 300. The RL 75/90 NS, it was ok.

I don't know if they use brass synchros in Subarus, but in Toyotas, the recommendation is for a GL-4 fluid in the standard transmission gearbox. I use MT-90 or Amsoil manual transmission fluid.
Amsoil MTL is good stuff, have used in past transmissions, and their 75w-90 past manual transmissions ,diff, transfer case etc

When I bought my truck, I did a first change with some basic gear lube at a shop. Probably just bulk. Then I changed to Amsoil at a short interval in the diffs and T-case. Transfer case shifts noticeably smoother. Can't really tell a difference with the diffs though. Going to switch to Amsoil in the transmission too. You never know what the shop did...

My next change in the spring for my 200,000km original head gaskets 2003 Baja with the EJ253 will be 4.4L of Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 with WIX 57712(y)
