So I was online browsing parts.subaru.com and this filter is now showing as "This Product Is No Longer Available" with no alternative for my application. Anyone know if an OEM product change is on the way or if this is just a supply chain problem?

Mystery solved. It's a supply-chain problem. See below:

Get the RX8 Tokyo Roki you’ll be fine. Blues are junk anyways.

Use the Wix 57055XP (Napa Platinum 47055) instead
The Napa Gold 7055 has finer filtration but not synthetic media, but the bypass is rated the same. If OPs application is under warranty, considering OEM recommendation is 6k OCIs, the 7055 is more than good enough for that, and will keep oil cleaner as well over the 47055.

They’re both well-built filters and meet OEM bypass spec, though.

More bashing without facts.
I shared a review video. Just check out my profile and should see history. MrSubaru did an hour and thirty minute video. Where the blue end caps stick to the ADBV. NOW if this was a normal Fram paper end cap occurrence. I’d be maybe less worried. But a number of end cap material comes off on ADBV. When lubed not so much. But again this is common practice 2 decades ago. Carbon composite works far better than paper. Like Supertech filters. Same 23 psi bypass pressure on the Mazda filter. Or 22-24 psi.
I’ve found a number of times where I found end cap fibers on dip stick and only when I’ve used Subaru Blues. For price of blues. Subaru could engineer a better filter vs over charge folks for a 20 year old tech.

Looking at various Subaru specific forums last night it appears dealerships are having to use aftermarket jobber filters at many locations. I wonder what happened with the supply chain... Seems like this one caught them off-guard. I wonder if this will cause them to switch OEM suppliers. We shall see! Someone posted a pic of what a dealer installed on another forum and it was a Pronto (Premium Guard) PO04615. That is specced with the 23psi bypass relief, 96% multi-pass efficiency at 20 microns, but only rated to 5,000 miles. Would be plenty good enough for me though.

In any event the 12A OEM filters can still be found at part stores, but for 40%-60% more than what a dealer parts deptartment charges. We’ll see how things are looking when I’m due for another oil change, but I’ll probably just go with a Wix 57712/57712XP or MicroGard oil change deal at O’Reily’s if I need. Both are application specific and have the higher bypass relief.

I emailed my local dealer parts dept to inquire about this new temporary product. I'll update here if anyone is interested in the follow-up.

Fram supplies the blues, IIRC and Roki does the rest.

The aftermarket seems to standardize on 6607 size for Subarus. I use a Toyota FT86(90915-YZZS1) filter on a FB25 when I don’t have a filter lined up already.

Hey if you want a blue let me know. I have one that I’m not gonna use. Unless all filters other than blue get discontinued. Not likely. Just pay shipping and it’s yours.

I found that the blue's went up in price a few months ago to I bought a 12 pack of Wix which were cheaper. Not as cheap as the last 12 pack of OEM I got but still cheaper than what they are now.
