stripper $12995 focus

Any good? They offer a choice between 2.0 automatic and standard. Of course the automatics are a disaster waiting to happen.

A couple dealers here are blowing these out for $13k in S trim. With AC but glaringly without cruise control. But one can apparently add it with genuine ford parts after-the-fact.

Funny, the 2.0/ stick shift at 36 highway MPG is the worst rated combo.

I'm not really the sort of person to buy new, but I was looking for one of these when my saturn blew up a couple years back. Couldn't find one under $17k then.

Maybe the low gas prices and new model coming soon are creating a perfect storm for crackerbox cars?

The poverty spec has all I could ever dream of, like 195/65/15s on steel wheels.

I rented a nicer focus a while back and like how it holds the road, probably lots of caster in the alignment.
 
I have a 2010 with 50k miles on it. It's good on gas, 40ish with the auto if I'm behaving

It's transportation nothing more. I added cruise after the fact, yes with Ford parts. It's an easy install.

It does hold the road well and the steering has a good stiff feel to it as well.
 
I did a nationwide search on autotrader and new ones were coming up as low as $10,995. So maybe you can go even lower. Plus normally there's a $1000 on the table when they advertise their prices. Esp at the end of the month.

How much to add CC after-the-fact? Did you do it yourself?
 
Probably as good as any other Focus, since the trim and the rims will be the primary difference.
AC is almost a must-have. I could live without cruise control.
I'd buy a stick, since you could likely get one even cheaper and it would be more fun to drive and would probably yield better real-world fuel economy. A stick would be cheaper since almost no new car buyer can operate one these days and has no idea what they're missing.
When Mom popped me out many years past, I couldn't drive a stick either.
Mom still can't.
People often confuse "can't" with having yet to learn a skill, so anything stick becomes cheaper every year.
 
Not only ford focus.. They have hyundai elantra and kia forte for 12995 as well.

Now If I could score a focus RS for 30000$ I would.

If its anything like Ive seen, you can buy and install the steering wheel with the cruise buttons, then you have to have a dealer connect their computer and turn on the cruise function in the PCM. Generally they will charge an hour labor to do this.

I got a wheel and switch from the boneyard for about $50. New, the switch itself was over $80. That's pretty much all you have to do to add cruise but the dealer has to enable it.
 
I looked on AutoTrader and there's a Nissan Versa stick shift for $10,995 in Massachusetts.

Keep an eye on AutoTrader with a long distance allowance and search from lowest to highest for price.
 
Don't take this the wrong way but versas are flimsy junk.

I recommended one to my sister back in 2011 during "carpocalypse" and sorta regret it though she's happy-ish.
 
Only worth it with the manual. But I would expect to pay less for the manual than they want for the DCT
 
My wife and I liked almost everything on her Focus (admittedly a Titanium model) with one glaring exception...the DCT. I didn't care for it but found it tolerable. My wife hated it. The car handled great, was comfortable, the 2.0 GDI engine had adequate power, and it got 38 mpg on the hwy at 70 miles per hour.

I'd buy a base Focus, but only with a manual.
 
Basically sedans are out and SUV/cuv of all shapes size cannot keep up....No one is interested in fuel sippers much more....

Excellent time to buy an economy sedan.
 
My brother's manual has an automatic clutch and Ford just put in a new one. Same clutch issue in a 2012 a guy at work has. Love the car but not the shuttering at shifting. Lots of computer updates but his is not like a fully automatic transmission. Great MPH however.

Getting a new car for $10K-12K is worth considering for sure. I just paid $5K for my 2006 Ford Five Hundred with 110K miles but I love the Volvo S80 chassis Ford built it on. The 3.0L V6 is fast and the six speed automatic is nice once I adjusted to two extra shifts.

Most could come up with a loan for the new option that might not come up with a loan for an old used one unless they buy cash.
 
That is a good deal.

They are solid cars, minus the automatic. Completely different than previous gen Ford Focus. They have a European feel to them now.

If the reliability holds up on mine I could see myself keeping it for quite awhile. 25k trouble free so far.
