If you have access to a set of torches you can try low temp aluminum solder.
you can buy a package from any welding store, maybe even sears hardware, for < $20.
clean the hole, fill it in, and retap.

I drove the car today. It ran very well, and so far no CEL. So perhaps grounding is a non-issue in this case.

Look at the bright side, atleast it's not like a GM ecotec 2.2 thru the 4.2L. On these engines, the coil bolt runs down the tower and into the cylinder head. The bolts snap like a toothpick! A little bead of silicone will hold the coil in place to the cam cover should is happen. Best PM is to carefully remove the coil hold down bolts and never-sieze them.
