STP XL filters

I know it’s fairly common knowledge among the regulars here, but wanted to show (in pictures) that one brand can have different manufacturers in the same line.

Long story, short-ish, I service 3 vehicles in my family and have been buying autozone bundle package for a while. The STP XL filters for my truck are clearly PG made, my daughter’s Santa Fe clearly are not (so return in store), but never paid much attention to the cartridge filters for my wife’s Telluride. Placed an AZ order, oil was delivered next day but filter was delayed. Received notification via FedEx that my filter was on the way from Premium Guard and not AZ. Compared to my current stock…everything I had received previously weren’t PG.

The photos speak for themselves (PG on left)

The one on the left has a typical PG style date code starting with 24MY.

The one on the right is P080323CV. I don’t recognize that date code style.

AZ has to use existing stock up from old suppliers. New stock will then be from current suppliers.

They are known to have multiple suppliers. I've received ChampXL black cans which I returned due to louvers. Obvious because it didn't have the silicone gasket.
AZ is shady in my area. If you buy the oil/filter bundle online for pickup, its one regular price for both the filter and oil. If you go in store and just pick it up off the shelf, they charge you that price plus the original price of the filter. Extra $10-12. O'reilys doesn't do that and AA went bankrupt here in Cali.
