Sorry, I am imagining my car is a fighter aircraft hence thinking in lbs/hr

Actually calculating the fuel burn rate at peak cruise to be exact.

I heard ballpark weight is 7lbs/gallon (US).

Thanks-

That's about what diesel weighs. IIRC, 7.1 lbs gallon os the nice round number for DF2. Gasoline is closer to 6.7 lb/gallon

Look up the specific gravity. I don't have my books - what is it like 0.737 at RT or 60°F?? So 1 liter weighs 737 grams over 454 gm/lb = 1.62#'s (but at 0°C, it's probably 1.63 or 1.64#'s)

gasoline is a little lighter than diesel and JP8 and ranges from about 5.9 to 6.5 lbs/gallon. I usually just round up to 7 it makes the math easier.

people think their car gets bad mileage, the lbs/hr on a fighter is more than most folks use in a year!

according to Caltex, their fuels (at 15c) are:
code:

regular 0.74 Kg/l

premium 0.75 Kg/l

diesel 0.84 Kg/l

kerosene 0.79 Kg/l

heating oil 0.82 Kg/l

Jet A1 0.79 Kg/l

LPG 0.53 Kg/l
