stp oil treatment

WOW!! i did a search for this and absolutely nothing came up! not one thread newer then 5 years... im surprised!
so what does everyone think of it? does it actually do anything?? or is it just a really really thick motor oil? its only 2 and a half bucks.... would it be worth putting in my 81 fairmont?

Why don't you just buy better oil? I mean, you could by Rotella for 15 bucks a gallon for your Fairmont, and the STP would only make it worse and cost you money.

I had somewhat of success with it in an '87YJ that had [censored] compression and would smoke like crazy on start up until things warmed up. Improved performance and cut the smoking down to almost nil. Worked so good I was able to sell it :)
 
Nothing wrong with STP. Thickens the oil a bit, and 'turns' SM oil into SL oil.

Modern stuff isn't nearly as thick as it was years ago.
