STP Full Synthetic High Mileage Motor

My local 99 cents store (an independent, not a chain) is selling this oil which is rated SQ for $4.99 a quart. SQ is the new I see it's also available at AutoZone but for $9.98 a quart. Of course STP doesn't make oil itself, it just licenses the name. STP oil used to be sold at Dollar General so maybe it's there as well. I’m sure it’s fine oil, but for ~$5/quart it’d be far down my list.

I believe Amalie is the manufacturer.

In my opinion for the price this is one of those oils to look out for savings with oil filter bundles otherwise just run to Walmart and grab Supertech.

The oil is probably okay, but not really seeing this as that good a deal, especially when so many brands of full synthetic are readily available in 5 quart jugs between $17 and 25. I am old, so think of this brand as one for cheap goop additives for worn out engines. I’d prefer Pennzoil, Mobil 1, GTX, Quaker State, Kirkland, Supertech, Idemetsu and others to this.

Advanced Auto has STP oils on sale in the DC area at closeout prices. It's what it claims to be and comparable to Warren made ST brand.

You'd have to check you local store. It seems to be different at each store in my area.

My cars wouldn't be too proud to run this oil, but the price is nothing special for what it is.

I have used STP synthetic 5w-40 in my Hyundai 1.6 Veloster turbo on and off for a few years. No complaints here. I can buy it at Autozone.

Advance Auto Parts does not carry STP where I am.

Definitely a good oil that’s bundled with store oil promo deals.

A few bucks more will get you a big brand name with better specs for Ferrari engine.

I work in a busy Indy shop and we run stp fluids in everything. We see the same vehicles all the time for various services and repairs. Never had an issue

AZ MSDS links to Highline Warren-it has a lot in common with ST.

Unless i am wrong the Amalie branded STP is bottled for Best Parts Memphis (Auto Zone ) so it would seem like the 99 cent store is buying it and re selling

There are other products with the STP branding but not specifically bottled for AZ

It’s an API SQ licensed oil. If that’s what you’re after then it’s not an awful price, but you can probably do better.

A decent one stop shop budget option comparable to most. Adding the filter makes the price more attractive.
