I'm looking at getting a 5 gallon pail of oil and wondering if it's ok to store for a few months after opening. It would be closed back up of course and in the basement. Any ill effects from this?

Give it a shake before you pour some out again and it should be fine.
I've got rotella T 15W40 in a pail, and all I ever see is HDEO in pail format. Did you find some PCMO?

I'm looking at getting some Petro-Canada oil from the local depot and apparently I have to order bottles or jugs because they only stock pails or barrels. If they do have it there I'll probably just get a pail, not really that much more. If I run the same in both cars it's only a few months supply anyway.

I think my Bruce-juice is over a year old (it's gotta be). As mentioned, I just give it a good shake just in case something is settled. Never seen anything on the bottom

The great thing is, once you get ahead one empty pail, you've got a great used oil container with the accordion spout/cap to transport it in. You do eventually end up with a surplus of 5 gallon pails. A clean one might be a good place to throw oddball left overs for make up/lawn mower service.

Looks like it doesn't matter, I was talking to a different guy there, at the counter I guess and he has 1L bottles in stock and I would have to order the pail, so I guess I'll just have to see what I get when I go! He also told me that he can't get 0W30 in synthetic only conventional? I thought I had read on here that all 0WXX oils were synthetic.

They make a 0w30 HDEO blend.

I wouldn't buy oil by the pail - too much chance of contamination if not used right away. Just me.
