storage life of oil filled filter

Anyone have any idea how long I can have an oil filter filled with oil on the shelf before using it?
The filter is wrapped in gladwrap btw.
Will the media tend to seperate is my main concern.

Good question ..but what's the worry? Are you waiting to open it up?? I don't think anything's going to happen to it.

Oil will not cause separation of the media. (If it could, we'd all be in trouble the first time an engine is warmed to operating temperature.) Water is another matter. If it's sealed with a plastic wrap barrier film, you're alright.
