Storability of Shocks?

A uncommon question...

If there are no aftermaket replacement shocks for your car and the OEM shocks are out of production, but you get hold of a used set with really low mileaga and store them in the attic. Are they still good in 10 Years? Rust protection of the piston rod will be done, of course.
Shocks are made by SHOWA, Japan. OEM Honda.
 
The attic may get hot, accelerating oxidation and degradation of elastomers. Store in the basement. Cool, dry, and wrapped tightly. You could store the shocks in a sealed container filled with gas blanket.

If you store them totally compressed, the piston rod won't rust and you will be fine.
