StopTech, Centric, and Raybestos to shut down

I used to happily recommend Raybestos Elements and used them on many cars for some years but then the quality went very bad in a very short time, now they are plain junk parts.

If First Brands was foolish enough to buy Cardone Industries, that shows how poorly it did its homework. That could not have been a smart decision, and it shows how poor management was. That said, I'm sorry to see Raybestos go away. Its website is already down.

The goal was to control 40%+ of each market they were involved in.....adding Cardone, along with Centric and Raybestos, got them there with respect to brake caliper rebuilding (and probably boosters). They also owned the component supply side (Carlson / IBI) for their rebuilding operation. The only thing they were missing was talent and morals.

If the Cardone Industries division goes into Chapter 7, I'd be especially leery of buying any Cardone parts because the warranty will likely disappear. The quality of many of those parts was suspect before the financial problems, even more so now. I'd avoid them.

Google shows Autolite, Cardone and Trico also affected. I wonder if it will affect Fram long term.

Same thing I have been reading. Trico, Fram and Autolite I hate to lose...Cardone can rot away with all the trash they've dumped into the pipeline so good riddance to them

If you buy a brake caliper at a parts store that's private labeled, this doesn't matter. They might have to find a new supplier, or if the part is not available, issue a refund, but your warranty will still be in effect as your "contract" is with the parts store, not Cardone. But if you bought directly from Cardone, yes, this may be a concern.

Raybestos was all over the place with quality.
StopTech was so so. Improvement over some brake systems (Asian and US vehicles). Big downgrade compared to ATE, Textar, Pagid, Jurid and Brembo.
I used once their track pads. They were absolute junk.

Yep. Raybestos another unfortunate loss. In the late 60s thru the 90s they were one of the best / preferred brake parts companies.

My guess that it should be more public knowledge soon. They are out of money, and those who work locally here for these companies are being laid off as I speak .

I got a Cardone reman steering rack for a first gen Taco years ago. I knew it was questionable but typical story of need-it-now and O'Reilly had it.

A year later it was leaking terribly and the woman had also destroyed her p/s pump due to lack of fluid.

We're kind of at a point where you don't really have much of a choice because there aren't any other options for reman'd racks.

I'm sure I can find other good options but raybestos element3 were my "go to" for quite a few vehicles.
I know they were cheapened, but I have them on all 4 corners of the 2020 elantra and they were good price and ok.
23$ a rotor vs 160 for oe.
