Debating on buying any more while we’re still at “first stage” price hikes![]()
Probably been 20+ years since I have bought any oil at full retail pricing. Always some clearance, sale or rebate going onI am still looking for occasional, smoking deals..... Will buy with the price is right.
I did the same thing. I seen the oil problem coming. I maintain three cars. I got three years worth of oil changes for each car. Whenever there was a rollback or somewhere had it on sale I always grabbed a few jugs and just as many filters.Prior to the Iran war... I bought and bought a bunch.... I looked for smoking deals on Amazon and Walmart.... and I scored. I now have, probably three years at the least.... and probably have 6-8 years of 15w40 for all my littler engines..... and my Diesels..
That went up to what we were happy paying for Valvoline Restore and Protect and some others.I did the same thing. I seen the oil problem coming. I maintain three cars. I got three years worth of oil changes for each car. Whenever there was a rollback or somewhere had it on sale I always grabbed a few jugs and just as many filters.
I just got back from Walmart this morning and noticed the price increases had finally hit my area. I’m glad I got the oil months ago. It has went up quite a bit.

I would agree with the caveat if there is something you just must have - like Restore and Protect or ESP - then you should get some. Who knows what is available at what price going forward. If someone is just stocking up now, take it easy. It's too late to build a two year stash, *IMO*. Once the situation in the Mideast resolves (one way or the other), lots of new supply is going to hit the market and the Asian basestock refineries are going to move back to producing more stock (jet fuel and diesel are more profitable right now).
yes, definitely VRP. this should be easy for anyone to check, if they really care. IIRC, Aramco owns Valvoline. Aramco also owns a Korean subsidiary that makes lots of basestock (Oilbank, IIRC?). Pretty safe assumption that some part of VRP comes from that complex in Korea, formerly using Mideast crude (now more Canadian).like Restore and Protect or ESP
