Agreed. That said, I do have a big stock of Wix racing filters on hand. About 18-20 of them. That's for a friend's car that I maintain for him and has to dump the oil and filter after every race weekend.

For my daily driver that gets an oil change once a year, I can't justify buying 12 years worth of filters. I don't even know what I'll be doing 12 years from now. The kids will be grown and out of the house so I'll probably be drunk on an island somewhere not thinking about BITOG.

Those of you whom think the EG is the cheapest filter ever made are conveniently forgetting many of the other C&P threads we've seen of other brands, and the quality failures of other brands.

I admit the EG is not a high-end filter, but it was never meant to be. It is a decent filter, and with the addition of the silicone ADBV, the value got a bit better.

The EG is not may fav filter, but it's not the junk many others purport it to be and I've seen far worse. The PC used to be well respected until the Tearolater issues arrived. Other brands have been known to occasionally exhibit crushed/collapsed media, barely open tube louvers, etc. I don't see any reason to "stock up" on Fram filters.

Who knows? Maybe Trico will come in and change the OCOD to have metal end caps? Then you all can sleep easy ... right? Personally I don't give a hoot about the fiber end-caps; they don't bother me at all. Or maybe they will use a coil spring instead of leaf spring (again - a feature I have no preference for one way or another as they both work just fine).

Get over yourselves.

10 years ago Purolator PureOne was a hit. Now the Fram Ultra is the best in it's price. Why stock up? When the dust settles some one else is around the corner.

"Drunk on an island somewhere". That sounds great!
