Still need some oil advice

No. A 0w-40 is a Euro oil with relatively high HT/HS. If you run it, you might just take a hit on fuel economy without gaining anything in return. If your engine was designed for 5w30, then that's all the protection you need.

But I am generalizing here a little. There are non-energy conserving 5w30 oils out there, too, with relatively high HT/HS (such as BMW High Performance oil made by Castrol). So, focusing on the SAE grade isn't always the correct approach. Rather, focus on other specs required by the engine mfg.

OT Finally scratched the itch yesterday and test drove a 2.0Turbo SE. Got on the interstate, salesman said to give it a go, quickly hit 80mph without any effort, didn't realize it till I looked at speedo. Very quick.

The yang of it though, still have trepidation regarding DI valve deposits. Will be interesting to watch the next few years as this generation Sonata's all have DI.

As for the oil, didn't realize it spec'd 5w40 or 0w40. If I were going with the 5w40, addy's suggestion of Rotella T6 Full Synthetic looks to be a serious value in that weight.

I run M10W40 in the Volvo because it seems the best oil for that application. The best oil for my wife's 07 Camry is 0W20, currently using Toyota's. For the 97 Camry, Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 seems the best. Guess I'm sort of living dparm's point.

Well, my Sonata 2.0T LTD is only recommended to use 5-30 if 5-40 isn't available. That's the only two options in grades.

Also, you are required to change the 2.0T mill oil at 4,800 miles to adhere to the warranty.

I guess the twin scroll turbo is hard on oil.

First change is by 3K and I used T6 and a Pureone filter.
