Well, y'all are going to think I'm smoking crack or blowing smoke, but this is true. I went over to check out the restoration work on the Camry this afternoon on the way home. I got an interesting greeting from the tech working the car. He has the hood, fender, front cover, and underneath damaged parts all removed.
But he had "that look" on his face. Come to find out that when they removed the fender panel, they discovered a substantial ant's nest inside the panel. I haven't driven the car into any pools of honey lately, so this is news to me. I hadn't even noticed any of the little buggers myself, until he pointed out some survivors still straggling about the floor of the shop and the engine compartment. He assured me that they'd all be gone before the painting starts. I hope so.
Any entomologists out there? What the heck sort of ant would want to nest in the fender of a BLACK car that gets parked under the hot summer Florida sun every day???
