good evening fellas. stihl has one grease spec'd for their brush cutters/weed wackers and one for their hedge trimmers. can someone tell me the difference between the 2 please? i've done the bitog cardinal sin and used the grease spec'd for weed eaters in my hedge trimmer before i read deeper and found that stihl offers 2 different greases.
thanks,
Big Ed

I use EP lithium grease in everything with no problems.

If it's a curved shaft trimmer, it can use the lowest spec grease known to mankind.

A gearbox will need an EP grease.

thanks linctex. i had some stihl brand grease for my weed wacker/brush cutter and used it for my stihl brand hedge trimmer. i stick with the stihl brand grease as the tube is threaded to screw into the trimmer or hedge trimmer and squirt some into the gear box. i had already shot some to the hedge trimmer before i read that stihl spec'd their other grease for my hedge trimmer. i figured they just had one grease and since i hadn't bought a tube of stihl grease in yrs i was wrong. just hope the brush cutter spec'd grease isn't bad for my hedge trimmer is all. i went today and bought both kinds so i won't screw that up again.
thanks,
big ed

yes duckryder i used the superlube where i shoulda used the multilube. i read as much as i could before posting this up. i couldn't find much info other than what you just linked to about the 2 diff greases as to why stihl produces 2 diff ones.
thanks,
big ed
