Any opinions on this weedeater? It seems new they are around 140bucks. I found someone on craiglist selling one for 75bucks. Says its a year old. Worth looking into? Im a bit weary about buying a used weedeater being many people have troubles out of them when new.

Stihl products are all very good. I have a fs45 and a fs90 4-mix.Both very good and reliable. Couldnt go wrong for $75 unless they didnt mix oil and gas correctly.Check it out.

I've owned the model for about 7-8 years. Engine Not finicky at all. If it looks half way decent and it starts, go for it. I burn whatever flavor of fuel mix I've been running in my motorized bike any given week and the thing never complains, loves to be reved.

I don't exactly like that it doesn't hold a ton of string, but it holds enough and it you use good string, it lasts awhile.

All said and done I did pay about $140 for mine new, and would buy another.

I have had my FS22 Stihl brushcutter for over TWENTY years & done basically nothing to it other than clean the air filter & switch blades & string on it-probably the best piece of equipment I've ever had! Make sure you have good compression, everything else can be fixed without too much trouble.

I bought a new FS45 a couple weeks ago. My wife accompanied me to the specialty store and asked, "Are you sure you want the least expensive one?" I don't need the higher cost features for my small yard.

The trimmer was annoyingly difficult to start for the first few uses (eventhough they started it easily in the store) but now I am smarter, it has started to wear in, and the engine will start on the first or second pull.

Good machine.

For some unknown reason from what I've notice is the Stihl when it floods the spark plugs gets wet quickly. This will leave a residue on the plugs making it even more difficult to start. Use a very fine abrasive sand paper and clean the plugs. You'll notice a bit difference in start up with clean plugs.

Not that I'm a Stihl fan but I do encounter an older Kohler engine that had to be modified because of a defect...too late to replace it because warranty expired. Just make due...spark plugs needs to be cleaned every 5 hours. I'm Shindaiwa fan...plugs never get wet from flooding(engine design?)...just from experience.

Whats the difference between a straight or curved trimmer? This trimmer model seems to be enough for my small lawn. Would it work as an edger...any attachments? Are electric weedeaters really a problem to deal with? Would seem easier to run one of those.

There is a rod from the engine to the spinning head. If the engine has a lot of power it's not wise having a curve shaft meaning the rod must bend also. Reason the curve shaft is for light home usage.
