I was just wondering if anyone has heard of these? They used to carry them at my work but then quit carrying them as no one purchased one of these. I believe we may have sold one or two when I worked there but I was never there when they were sold. Also feel free to express your true opinion about this product. Would it work? Why or why not?

I've have one of these made by Blitz. I have had it on my Supra for 9 years. Had an HKS for 3 years before that. The filter has worked fine for me, my car is not a daily driver though, it doesn't see a lot of dirt. I have only cleaned it once or twice in 9 years...

Where did you get those at? This is the only one I have seen. I think those would be better than this one just for the fact that a lot of APC products didnt seem to be made that well when my work carried them (the ones they did carry, I can't say all are not made well). I know this one on the top has an inverted cone and it has some small rectangular holes that are covered with some kind of white material but it did not always completely cover the holes so that would let dirt in.

Seen ones like the link shows used inside of a larger paper element on diesel truck filter housings. never thought of them as a filter, more of a debri trap to save the turbo.

I used to have something similar on my 57 Chevy 235 L6. I thought it was a rather strange design because it was nothing more than a rock stopper, and it wasn't an oil bath design.

Do me a favor and buy one. Then take some dirt, pour it on top of it and shake. I bet its a better sifter than a filter.

The only place I have seen them is at small autoparts stores in there "ricer" section.

A quality paper filter has been and will be the best for you.

I remember these filters too. The weird thing is that I remember seing them mostly on trucks. Strange because of the heavy duty nature of a truck fitted with a questionable (?)filter.

They were made of coarse steel wool like material stuffed between two hoops of perforated sheet steel for support. They were about 1" tall, and were sandwiched in between the base and filter top.

I used to swish the element in the solvent bucket, blow dry them and oil them with SAE30 before re-installing them.
