I have had a Glock 22 40 s&w for the last 16 years and have nothing but good things to say about it. When shopping for a new personal defence weapon recently, I decided that a .45 was in order and I bought a new Glock 21. Pick it up next Tuesday. The thing that sold me on the Glock again is how the grip fit my hand. For me, the Glocks just fit my large hands like a glove.
Parts availibility for Glocks are excellent. Not quite 1911 levels, but very good never the less.
I know you didn't mention Glocks, but give them a look. Finding the right weapon is hard and very subjective. Opinions very in every direction. Go to a range that rents the guns in question and try them first. Then you can use your own judgement instead of ours.
