Spotted a unicorn: 2011 Camry with a manual

It won’t sell…very few will be interested. You need a specific buyer for a typically easy sell car.
No doubt. Am tempted to look, but I recall how much rust mine had, this would be close. Plus I did a quick google on the VIN and got a couple hits on “salvagebid” or similar sites—the pics were obscured so I have no idea. Not sure I want to drop $50 on a carfax.

I can’t imagine a Lexus dealer buys cars at auction to resell, so it must have been a trade in. I wonder who transitions from a manual Camry to a Lexus?
Someone who has been driving a 2012 Camry and has been saving lots o Money.

Yesterday evening I gave a Toyota Tacoma a jump start with my booster pack. I joked to the owner that I'd give him a great deal - I'd trade him even-up - his nice Tacoma with a dead battery for my rusty '07 Grand Caravan with a good battery.

He replied that no-one would want his truck because it has a manual transmission. I told him that was a bonus in my mind, but he declined my offer. 😉

He's from Guatemala originally, and is used to Canadians not knowing how to drive stick.
I sold my 2011 Tucson with manual last year and every single person who looked was from Mexico or Peru. One guy said the vast majority of vehicles down there are still stick.

Car dealers are the worst. Their crack sales staff told me they verified it was a manual.
Found this well written ad on CL the other day. It's a well equipped xD seeing how it has both an automatic *and* manual transmission.

"Crack" indeed... although on the good side, it just had a price drop. Not sure if the market is getting better or not.

It's gotta be a total base-model stripper, right? Does it even have AC?
AC yes. Our 2011 (and I assume the 2010 as it had same engine and trans) was a bit odd: the automatics had EPS while my '11 had convention PS. Which would not have been a problem, but it used a separate belt for the PS. When I looked into changing it, read up on it, looked at it... I pulled out my wallet and let a shop do it.

Stripper, eh... while it lacked RKE it did have electric windows and auto up/down on all. My 2010 Tundra didn't have that! Cruise, CD, aux input. PS, PB, ABS, TC, VSC, side impact airbags. Considering my first few cars lacked power steering it seemed reasonably equipped, even for a base model. Now today if it doesn't drive itself it's not well equipped.
