So, I did the obvious and looked it up at the NM DMV. The fine for up to 10 mph over is $25. You can pay in person, but not to the officer. Just to be sure, I called the court in Tucumcari. "No, they do not take payments."
He doesn’t even live close to NM, so clearly there’s a bit of bias in the hogwash. NM is a beautiful state with lots to offer, especially to retirees.NM is a “bankrupt state”? Are you thinking of Louisiana perhaps?
Thanks to booming oil and gas production in New Mexico's section of the Permian Basin, the state legislature began the session with a massive $3.5 billion budget surplus. In 2023
You guys in Texas have a bit of gas and oil, right? What happens to that money? Strange you have such AMAZINGLY high property taxes. About triple that of NM. Yes we have state income tax. Last year I paid $367 on 70,000 bucks of income.
NM “panders to illegals”? Gee, all I see on the news is huge crowds of illegals on the TEXAS border. NM has a lot of Hispanic citizens…just like south Texas. Really what migrant wants to cross from Mexico to a place called “NEW” Mexico?
The following is a list of NM sanctuary cities and counties. Pretty much all of NM. None were indicated for TX.NM is a “bankrupt state”? Are you thinking of Louisiana perhaps?

Perhaps do a quick check of actual data before firing away. The internet works wherever you live. Thank you.
I am not "your city council". Thats your and their problem, not mine. The property tax cut you referenced has already been nullified by my city council by raising even more taxes. Have a search for that one. SE Texas is the well known for improper search and seizures, you have alot more to worry about than faux news boogeyman “illegals” moving in next door.

Call it a win.Got pulled over in Tucumcari, New Mexico (I-40) this morning around 6am for doing 84 in a 75, Officer said if I plead guilty it's a $25 fine. Caught me off guard as 1. I haven't been pulled over in 30+ years, And 2. Never heard of a officer making plea deals on the side of the road.
I plead guilty & paid the fine just now online.
Thought being pulled over on a empty highway in the middle of the desert for doing 9 over was a little extreme. But I didn't voice my opinion![]()
I went back and looked. You said that in your original post. My sloppy reading.I paid over the internet with a credit card once I got home.
Great to see a cut in Texas taxes, but NM still not bankrupt, and in spite of the sanctuary stuff…still no migrant crisis. “Planing” to get away from oil is a statement to appeal to some folks. Kamala plans on “reparations”. Trump “plans” to fly millions of immigrants out of the country. There’s a lot of plans on both sides that we both know are never going to happen. The following is a list of NM sanctuary cities and counties. Pretty much all of NM. None were indicated for TX.

Texas just cut $18 Billion in property taxes.

Meanwhile, NM's government want to pivot away from oil & gas:

The rules out in the middle of nowhere, are what ever the guy with the power wants it to be.
Um, no. Not since I've been here in the last 28 years.Yeah it's done in some states. Might have been a while ago, but I read about $5 speeding tickets paid on the spot in Nevada.
Well that means that 99% of you are speeding. If you increased the limit to 100, people would complain about 110.No offense, but some of you guys saying "just drive the speed limit and not 1 over" would be a road hazard where I'm at in the Northeast. NYC area, Boston area, it's a daily occurrence for the highways to be 55 but the average flow of traffic is 75-85. You can be doing 90 and have people keeping up with you or passing you.
Doing 55 as the sign said will cause an accident as you are impeding the flow of traffic. Maybe that flies in middle of nowhere Midwestern or Southern small town but not in my area.
Um, no. Not since I've been here in the last 28 years.
Sure it is.Going with the flow of traffic is not a law.
