Speedboat Crash Here Yesterday

This happened here yesterday during "The Desert Shootout" which is held here every year. They had just hit 200 MPH and it went airborne. It was pretty windy here yesterday, and that thing caught a ton of air. Both guys survived, but were pretty banged up. Wild ride for sure!

I love speed as much as anyone, but that water seems a bit rough for top speed runs. It's much rougher than conditions you would run Top Fuel Hydros, for example. I'm glad they survived.

Yeah, they would have been in good shape had they attempted it this morning. It is dead calm today. The lake is like a sheet of glass.

I don't believe I've ever seen a boat fly that high, or that far! That was nuts!

I think that's what saved them. There was a risk of touching the water at the very beginning of the flight that would have been probably lethal. But then it flew away further and had plenty of time to lose speed.

I don't buy the 200mph part though.

Once they got on it, that thing didn't waste any time getting up over 200 MPH. This video is from years ago. But it was a much longer run in really smooth conditions. And they took their time with adding power.
