Speculate on this (brake replacement)...

Simply, AS is not a lubricant, and they say so.
No mfr ever uses it on their brakes.

Because of these two facts , what does this tell a thinking person?

I don't care if you use bacon grease, but it is not right to tell others to do so.
I have long learned what mechanics have done for a long time does not justify a technique or product. We have to look at the cold hard facts.

Actually couple of mechanics that I frequent use anti-seize. Both are pretty sharp, so I think it is OK.

Have to agree with 'don't use anti-seize'. We get visits from Wagner reps, high temp brake lub should be used. We carry a different formula for ceramic. If the boots on the pins are in good shape high temp brake grease not wheel bearing grease should be used. I have to say that I hear the 'been doing this for twenty years' all the time, most times i bite my tongue, but I have been known to say, 'For twenty years you've been doing it WRONG !! Use the grease on ALL contact points, not just the pins.

I take what the reps say with a grain of salt. they usually quote some [censored] from somewhere that makes no sense or just say what you want to hear.
I've re-educated 30yr mechanics with proper ways of doing brakes and while they disagree with me, it stops the squealing.

Any good mech knows that whatever you did 20 years ago it is probably different now.

If the OEM's don't do it that's likely due to the facts proving it comes up short somewhere.

But you poor guys in the Frozen north have to do SOMETHING to combat all that corrosion. It would drive me crazy.

Some of the reps are not very informed but the Wagner guy is pretty good. I hit him with lots of technical questions and his answers are always spot on. It was the Wagner rep who told us NOT to clean new rotors with brake cleaner but dish soap and water, the residue from the cleaner can contribute to brake noise. I know this isn't a real big deal but lots of mechanics blast new rotors with brake cleaner before install.

We also have a good relationship with the Moog/Federal Mogul guys, the visit our store on a regular basis pulling samples of various product off the shelf to send for Engineering analysis.
