2009 Mazda5 2.3, 5-speed MT, 225,000 km (140,000 miles)
I installed rebuilt rear calipers a few weeks ago after one seized. The brakes were fine afterwards.
This morning Jr reported that the brake warning light was on. The fluid was quite low in the reservoir, and the brake hose/right rear caliper interface was leaking. I tightened the connection, and that fixed the leak. (This was obviously totally on me - I felt really stupid, but was also glad I didn't have to deal with taking a defective caliper off and exchanging it.)
I topped up the reservoir, bled that corner, and the brakes are now firm and worked well on a test drive.
However, the brake warning light is still on. I've never had this happen before.
I feel like I should know this, but is the brake light triggered by low fluid level in the master cylinder, or is it triggered by low pressure?
Will this correct itself with use?
Should I bleed the other three calipers?
Is there any way to "reset" the brake light?
I'm at a loss - thanks for any help you can provide.
