Treadwear is TERRIBLE on those tires. The guy at the Michelin Tech line told me that I should expect 10-20k out of a set.

Well, I orderd 2 for the Astra. Gotta be better than the Hankook oems. $75 for a premium 17" tire is too good to pass. If they don't work in the snow, we'll order 2 of something else and put the oem Hankooks on EBay, like I intend to do with the first pair that are coming off. I'm shure I can get $100/2 with full tread, so the BFGs at $167 shipped is basicly a no-brainer. (225/45-17)

I sent the link to a few friends. I would not recommend against them, at all. As-usual, I'll be the test subject.

"I came from the Continental ContiExtremeContact tire. There is a world of difference. In straight-line acceleration is is confident with little wheel spin. The 1-2 "chirp" is eliminated. The BFG also produces confidence in corners. Braking is excellent with no ABS action even in rain. Overall a EXCELLENT performance tire, with great value for money."

"These tires are simply awesome. The grip is excellent in dry or wet conditions. The Solstice hydroplanes badly with the stock RSAs, and once I switched to these it was a night and day difference. I've use them twice for autocross too and have bee very pleased!"

"if u have an all year round sports car, these tires are the best i have had during the winter. i drove my car thru every storm even in blizzard conditions i made it to and from work without getting stuck once..there are times even when its wet out and the tires hook...they have suprised me...if anyone is considering this tire i recommend these tires...i feel i have made it thru the impossible this winter...cant say how they are in summer but if i am this happy now then im sure this summer will be just as satisifying..."

"Great all performance tire. Worth the bread..."

"I have had these for a year now and have been very happy with them. They provide excellent responsiveness and handling while maintaining stability in rain and snow. The car is still a handful to drive in the snow, but at least ir manages to get where it's going"

"Exceptionally smooth, quiet ride for this type tire along with very good adhesion. I also own a 2002 firehawk with these same tires. These vehicles are not track driven, but driven somewhat aggressively on the country roads around my house. i would definately buy again-obviously and would highly recommend."

"This is the final review for this set of the BFG SS A/S.
As I neer 23,000+ miles on these tires, I have to say that the grippy compund that was there when the tire was new is gone (currently 5/32 of tread life is remaining). Resulting in understeer in hard corners. Traction in a straight line is also compermised with heavy TC action, or throttle action needed to keep the rear end in line.
A comparson to Continentials ContiExtremeContact tire that I came from, this one is just okay... not bad, not really good, just adequate. Where this tire shines is its value for money. At $18 more, per tire, it lasted a full 3 to (maybe) 4 thousand miles longer than the Continental.
In short, I'm a big fan of BFG and will probably buy this one again."

Your Astra is built in Europe right? I would have thought that it would have Michelin or Continental.

This is my favorite tire. Check the dry lap times. It's under 30 seconds which is faster than most Extreme and Max Performance tires but also has twice the tread wear at half the price. A really well engineered tires. Kudos to BFG.

I'm wondering if I should get another pair. Generally we worry more about wet and snow traction, but I think all we need to do is beat the Hankooks.

I've been driving these tires and they are insanely fast. Insanely fast. Did I mention they are fast? I've turned off the stability control in the rain and I can't get any play out of them at all.

The XL load raing really stiffens things up too. The Astra is not that light, so it works out.

They really have been quite a nice surprise.I can't say enough good things about them.
