Awesome, muriatic acid. That just gave me an idea. A can of oven cleaner, that is supposed to dissolve aluminum also.

A few years ago when I lived in town I had 4 5 gallon jugs stolen and thought about putting some battery acid in it and then advertising the can so some a hole would steal it, never did but wish I would have. That would be my pick anyways.

One other thing that would work if it was going in a car would maybe be silicone. That is supposed to take the oxy. sensor out pretty quick and would be a tough fix as the silicone would be hard to get out of the tank and may take a few sensors to put it all together. On the other side of it, if he didnt fix the sensor he would have to steal more gas since it would be getting less mileage!

Silicone will trash the cat too, so he'd replace his O2 sensors, then get a cat failure code.

Maybe spray a can of CRC Heavy Duty silicone in there? It's pretty much silicone suspended in solvents, so it should stay mixed with the gas.

I still think water... water in the fuel lines, fuel rail, fuel injectors, combustion chamber, hyrolocking the engine... spells trouble. Even a 10:1 water ratio will do a lot of damage.

I dont think water will do much if any damage. It wouldn't hydrolock the engine because if you went to straight water it wouldnt run and second it just isnt enough water to hydrolock it. It would make the engine stall and would almost require taking the tank off and flushing out the lines which would either cost money or take time if the owner knew how to do it.

I wonder if silicone would sit at the bottom, hopefully it would mix a little. The best thing if silicone would cause havoc is it would be tough to get out of the fuel system, might even have to replace the fuel tank.

When the car doesn't start people usually still try to start it a few dozen times before calling it quits. All the fuel injectors are doing in injecting more water into the chamber.

take it from me...it can fry them.

nitromethane is an oxidizer just like nitrous oxide, adds alot more oxygen and causes a lean burn. NOT GOOD!

edit: at over $50/gallon thats somewhat expensive but it doesnt really have a smell, is clear, and a decent amount would do some damage

Dissolve as much as you can till it doesn't settle on the bottom of the container. start with a couple of cups- you can probably get 3 to 4 cups to dissolve in a gallon.
Hopefully the theif is using this in a small volume tank (like an ATV or outboard), so it is not dilute in 15 other gallons of gas
