You guys are bad!! I'm going to pass along the info, but I don't think I could bring myself to do this....bad karma and all that stuff.

Can't believe people are actually discussing bad stuff to add to fuel?

Put some MMO in it. JP JP :)

Used motor oil extra lube for the thief.

A nice 75/25 mix of gas and diesel should do the trick, especially if the thief is working during the night. The smell should be pretty close.

A common theme from epic literature is that in doing justice, you become unjust yourself.

For me, it just is a caution, which I accept as part of the deal.

If the gas was stolen once or twice, I would not bother as the guy maybe was running on fumes, but if it is stolen on regular basis, then I would definitely spike the gas with something potent enough to at least mess up the fuel pump or injectors.

Diesel will just stall the engine and no harm will be done to it, so use diesel if you're not a cold hearted [censored] as I am

I recall hearing that too heavy a dose of either would blow the heads off an engine(70's). An obvious exaggeration I'm sure.
You can't buy bottles or cans of either anymore, regrettably.

We don't have theft problems in our neighborhood because we shoot first and call 911 later to pick up the carnage.

I have also heard that bleach will ruin an engine......
but I have no idea what percentage the mix would take to do the job.
Also I think the bleach would overpower the gas smell???

You can use anything with sulfur in it. That will ruin the engine. It should pass right through the fuel filter and wreck havoc on the internals.

I don't know about ammonia, but you can give it a try. Anything that is corrosive and liquid should do the trick. I initially thought about miniature abrasive particles, but most likely get caught in the fuel filter.

You can go to a junk yard and get some sulfuric acid out of batteries. This will do quite a number, however, I don't know how the container will stand up to it.

anything that would make his car smoke like crazy, that will make it easy to spot the person's car that stole your gas....

... a few gallons of used motor oil

A trick we use at the sand dunes is a can with a gallon of gas and 2 gallons of swimming pool acid. The acid will destroy aluminum parts such as carbureators and pistons. Gets even better when the theif gets the acid on his hands trying to fix his carb.

You can't leave anything out at the dunes overnight and expect it to bethere in the morning.
