Here's a pic of my Champs in service for 25.5k miles. 150k-175,538 miles. Gaps ranged from .050 to .066. I gaped them at factory recommended .040.

Look pretty uniform.

My real interest is how easily do they come out of the head upon removal? No anti seize I notice.

Every any issues ?

I've never had an issue, they come out with ease. The 4.7 is proving to be a fantastic motor. On par with Ford's 4.6. Too bad Chrysler never offered it in a car, it would have made a nice small V8 option.

They appear to be burning corectly according to the inside insulator color. Is this the correct plug for this engine? If so, I would try NGKs next time.

You know, I've been thinking about trying them.

+1. Nice cheap plug that worked. What more can you ask for from an inexpensive plug?

copper core champions are oem for the 4.7L, the ngk's were used on the 3.7L sister motor. my guess is spark plug manufactures heat ranges don't match exactly and a different temp was needed for each motor.

Well, I guess I would have to agree with that.

I think it's better than the Ford engine. We had a 2003 Durango w/o any problems.

If they were gapped at.040 and the gap grew another .010 to .016 in 25,000 miles then I would change to a different spark plug. I find this gap growth in 25 K miles unacceptable. JMO.. Ed

I have the original Champion Plats in my Intrepid. Just went past 140,000 miles. Clean ,gap, anti-seize every 50,000 miles. No problems.

The modular has millions upon millions of fleet miles under its belt in LEO and Taxi/Limo service. The 4.7 does not.

I'm sure it is a fine engine, but the 4.6L Modular has a much broader history of longevity and durability.

Why would you want to do all the work to do this every 25,000 miles? Millions of us run Irridium plugs which do cost more but have proven time and again that they are capable of good performance for 100,000 miles. I personaly am not interested in changing plugs or gapping plugs on short interval, also I find the gap growth to be unacceptable on your Champions. IMHO Champions in any variety are best left to lawn and garden enines.

Thats normal for Champions, the electrodes are relativly soft so they shed a lot of metal. if you don't mind changing plugs often, no big deal.
