they are highly recommended for most #@$%! cars....and I've never had a problem with NGK's...
have you?

I've had a set of NGK Copper Plugs and Delco wires in my GM for the past 4000 miles. Last highway trip yielded 38 mpg!

Anyway, my point is that NGK V-Power plugs will cost you about $3/plug. For the same price (maybe + $0.50/plug), you can get plugs that will last you much, much longer and will perform identically. Of course, all of this is irrelevant if you enjoy changing plugs.

NGK v-power are $1.99 in store and are even less when ordering online (plus s/h, though). They will last 30k miles just fine. I've read many reports of people having rough running/idling cars with platinum plugs - usually +4s, or in cars that had factory copper plugs.
Just swapped some in my buddy's Accord today, took 10 mins tops.

FYI... NGK V-power plugs should be accepted for Japanese cars and will work well in most any situation. Denso may be harder to find OTC though.

I too have heard many stories of poor running cars when precious metal plugs were used when copper was OEM. But I don't know first hand.

As a Honda tech I have to say that unfortunately the plugs in your Civic will indeed last 100K and they won't give you any trouble when it's time to remove them. Change them more often if you enjoy spending money on your car.

Agreed. I pull plugs out of Honda/Acuras at 105K and they still look fine. If you really want to spend the money on new plugs at 30K, go ahead, thats fine by me. By doing so you are supporting the company that I work for, so thats cool. Those plugs run about 10 to 15 dollars apiece, but if you really want to replace them, by all means.

If and when you do replace them, just use a bit of anti-seize on the threads. Steel plugs and aluminum heads get along a bit too well, and like to stick together.

Indeed, and they are specified in both the owner's manual and the service manual, but they come from the factory with the NGK's and that's also what the dealers seem to sell, at least every time i've purchased some.
