Historically I have run my plugs for half of what the mfg recommends. To me, it's cheap insurance and easy enough that I'll play it safe. I also race the car and I'm betting that really shortens their life. Name-brand platinum plugs are like $2.50 each and it takes me an hour to do all 8 on my car...so I replace them often.

Vikas, these do not look that bad to me. The ones I checked were in even better shape than these look.
I checked the part number and they are platinum plugs stock, also appear to be about $6/each.

Replaced the plugs on the wifes 03 Suburban at 114K. The wires were extremely hard to get off as mentioned in other posts. I replaced the plugs with factory iridiums and did not notice an increase in fuel mileage or a smoother idle. The original plugs looked great and I used ani seize and dielectric grease on the new ones.
I've run OE plugs 200k miles in our fleet vans with cleaner looking electrodes than that.

I have an 06 Mustang GT that has the long 2 piece plugs that tend to break when removed. I have 51k now. They are supposed to be good for 100k but I think I'll have them done at 60k.
05 Accord 4cyl -Iridiums first change at 52K second change at 145 K . The electrode portion was significantly on the last change.

Agreed. I think people are being slow to recognize the incredible durability of platinum plugs. First set I changed out at 50 k miles. They looked great. I let that set go 100k before changing. They looked great with the gap still set and no noticeable wear. I now have plugs in with over 200k on them in my other car. I did an inspection and like the others, the plugs looked just fine. Back in they went.
I think plugs are now as good as permanent if you run platinum.
