Spark plug for GCV160 Honda engine.

Might as well add another. I aquired my dad's other Husqvarna lawn mower and this one comes with BPR5ES and the mower is newer than the other one I got from him...lol

So I'm swapping the other plug from the other mower so they both run the BPR5ES plus. According to Honda in their manual for the GCV-160 engines they state to run: BPR5ES. I've looked at 3 revisions of the Honda Engine manual and they all state BPR5ES for mowers.

I always love conflicting manufacture/manufacture information. I figure the folks at Honda who MAKE the engine probably know more than the people using their engine in all their models...lol

My BPR6ES in my mower is very black, where as the BPR5ES I pulled from his newer motor is more whitish, way less carbon build up on it.

The temperature rating for the plug doesn't affect how hot the engine runs. If the 5 plug has a good life, that shows that it's fine to run. Problems come in when a hot plug melts the electrode, or if a cold plug fouls.

I have a Denso PW16TT Platinum TT in a pressure washer. Works fine. Oddly enough, Honda specs a “cooler” plug but when I pulled the OE plug out, I saw a BPR5ES.

I’ll swap it out for the “cooler” plug but in a BPR6EGP/BPR6EIX or Denso PW20TT/IW20TT.
