That is a very small part of it. If you have kids in Korea or Japan its career suicide. It will straight up ruin your career.
But at the same time South Korea's government is complaining that couples aren't having enough children...

My western view is that the Korean people are cruel to each other.
Here in America I can hang out with a Sushi chef and marry a waitress. Or a lady doctor will marry a construction worker.
In Korea? Unless you have an MBA you are not even a human being and there are 50 other guys competing for that degree/job positions and there is only 5 spots available so you learn to be horrible and cut throats starting in middle school.

People with "regular" jobs are treated like garbage and you cant have a careen unless you putting in 80 hour work weeks.

I know some Korean's and they have never mentioned anything like that. Of course they live in Europe now :)

What you describe is the way wal-street works. Not so much if your a electrician or engineer? So might be similar?

My take and that of demographers - S. Korea has the same problem as Japan, China, etc. If you live in a condo with little space, both adults need to work to pay for things, and kids add no economic value (ie no free farm labor), then humans aren't stupid and have fewer of them. 🤷‍♂️

Were honestly not that far behind them in this country.

Still doesn't explain there current affairs?

Correct, we used to laugh at them but we are 20 years behind that rolling boulder.
Our problem is worse, instead of addressing the core issue of why its happening we simply mask the issue with immigration which creates its own problem that compounds with the people not having kids problem.
