Someone here must know. The headlines shocked me.

Apparently the President of South Korea went on TV, claims that elected officials in Parliament are North Korean sympathizers because apparently they won't pass his budget, and he has essentially seized control of the country. They also apparently have threatened any journalist saying there taking control of the media.

The world gets stranger by the day.

Has anyone been following this and knows what the real story is?

Probably a disagreement over arms shipments. His own party is not behind him on this.

Well that escalated quickly.

I mean come on man, we need more fist fights in the houses of the people to calm that $%^# right down.
The birth rate is Korea is so low, that it's the equivalent of the black death ravaging their population. There won't be any Koreans left to fist fight with.

All those beautiful women and no one wants to procreate? Send in some BITOGs, we can repopulate the country!

Wow, Wife and I spent some time there a couple weeks back but only in the airport. Family member was just on vacation there. Very interesting.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow

We will see how this turns out. If there are some arrests based on reliable evidence of corruption and an end to martial law in a few days, then that will be one thing (still not good). If a bunch of people just disappear into custody and the legislature is disbanded long term, we'll know it's probably super janky.

Either way, this is not good. South Korea is a very important ally in the region.

Why would you need martial law to arrest some bad dude's?
