Sort of "trapped" in my house by oil

The recycling truck burst a hose on my street and there is a 1" x 6" deep puddle of hydraulic fluid bracketing my house as the driver didn't notice the leak until he got to my place and stopped. There is a wide line going down the street. I don't really want to drive through it and have fluid flipped up on the undercarriage and possibly down the sides. It will be all cleaned up by the city, thank goodness.

Thanks, BITOG! This is the only place in the world to post something like this, lol!

Dont they oil the undersides of cars in canada to combat rust????

Watch your tires for premature breakdown, and if there is any, sue the carrier in about a year for oil degradation of your tires related to this...

They are cleaning it up right now, but it looks like a "Kitty Litter" truck had a small accident. Better than oil, though. And I'm getting hungry!

Any get in the yard or is it all in the street? If in the yard, make sure they replace all the grass as it is all dead now.

I asked the guy about it getting on tires and degradation and he said there shouldn't be a problem, but I'll still keep a lookout for problems.

The spill was kept at bay by the curb so it is just in the street.

Here ya go, Pablo!

That "litter" trail goes all the way down the street, goes left and down two blocks, takes another left, and then down that street a little bit more!

On a positive note, the bump on the rounded curb is much less when going in and out.

Poor clean up.

When we have a spill we have to put the dry-sorb down, grind it in and then pick it up and place that in 55 gal drums. That goes back to some Haz-mat place.

Then bring out the sweeper to clean up everything else. If it's small enough, a couple of guys with brooms work..

On a scale of 0-10 on clean up, I'd give them a 3.

They still have wet spots showing.

They must not be large enough (or care

) to have to worry about EPA and their forms..

Take care, bill

PS: If in photo one in the middle is a storm drain and any got into there, BIG clean up problem...

It looks like it never rains there.

Storm drains shouldn't be an issue!

Thanks for the picts!

Actually that looks way bigger than I imagined. Crap, in Wa-istan we would have the 400 person haz mat team out, 16 trucks, choppers, 10 year studies, cleared 5 mile radius, you know the light stuff.

Bill,
Sort of funny, but that is actually a mound of dirt used to make a little dam to keep it from spreading. The dirt came from two pots that had palm tree sprouts that failed to grow about three months ago and something told me not to dump the dirt out of the them. Don't know why.

Now I do!

Never rains?!?

You should have been here last month during one of our monsoons! 2" of rain during one of those storms caused major flooding and, I think, two deaths. Of course, there is no eveisence two weeks later and dry as a bone again.

Two men cleaned this up and one was the driver of the broken truck.
