Dealing with Neuropathy in my feet. What is the softest sock you've ever owned?

I have diabetic neuropathy and socks are a real hit and miss for me. I suspect it’s that way for most sufferers.

I’ve had them for a couple of months now. They are a acrylic wool blend which helps in these colder months.

I have been taking this since mid summer. After a couple of months I realized about 75% of my symptoms were gone. Your results may differ. Another route is to ask your doctor.

Chemo left me with cold feet. A tingle, not a burn. It was a bigger deal 10 yrs ago when I realized my balance was shot and I dropped tools at the end of the day. I'm just glad I can still appreciate being alive. Cancer doesn't always give you that

Up until a month ago, I never had even heard of Neuropathy. I am not diabetic, I have no idea how this started. I can tell you, it completely changes your lifestyle. Something as simple as putting on a pair of shoes. I am living in slides and Crocs right now.

I would check with your doctor. This could be a sign of something more serious.

Have you been checked? I am 68 and am not diabetic but I don't eat Sugar, fruit and cut the carbs real low. Diabetes is scary stuff.

I have a lower left foot and ankle that is always swollen and has poor drainage of lymph fluid. Any sock I wear MUST be extremely loose fitting.

The socks I wear are from "Extra Wide Sock Company" phone number 1 888 943 3762 the white socks with no elastic except for the very top and even that is only one thread are there model no. 3800 and I do cut off the top. It reduces the life of the sock because it then they unravels a little with each wash. One thing that helps is putting all the socks in a cloth net ( the low cost ones made for hanging fruit and cheese ) when they are washed. That company has a special all the time of buy 6 pair get one pair free. I buy 18 pairs and get 3 free pairs, and that also qualifies for free shipping. The total price for me ( Pittsburgh PA tax included ) is $161.82 and I just repeated that order yesterday.

I have tried many different socks from many different companies, and these are the best loose-fitting socks I have found.


My shoe size is 13 and 1/2 and the best light weight comfortable shoe I have found is a Hush-Puppy model "Gus".

I ordered several pair of Viasox and liked them so I ordered more. Pricey at $20 but easy on legs.

Yes, I have an appt in 3 weeks w/ a Neurologist. This entire fiasco has gone from: GP, Podiatrist (2x), Dermatologist, now the Neurologist.

After spending hours reading, this is exactly what is going on. I only know about this, because the Dermatologist had asked me if I had been tested for it. I kind of gave him the look of "huh?"

Yes, I have my annual physical. My levels are higher than he would like to see, but nowhere near Pre-diabetic.

I went through some odd transformation this summer. My diet completely changed, very little desire for sweets, haven't had a soda since May.. lost 25 lbs. I am now, at 54, the same weight I was at 28.

Another thing I have used that worked well is SalonPas Lidocaine Plus liquid. It comes in a roller applicator bottle. I have it on hand when it flares up.
